We are located 45 minutes outside of Halifax, Nova Scotia on the Eastern Shore.
We are an addictions recovery treatment center that offers residential programs on 10 acres of beautiful ocean property with luxury accommodations and a five-star menu provided by our experienced chefs.
We offer 30 to 90 day treatment programs that are personalized to client needs along with detox and withdrawal management services facilitated by experienced physicians and registered nurses. Our programming follows solid nutrition, recreation and spiritual components aligned with the needs and interests of clients.
Our family care programs include therapy for loved ones and an extensive six-month after care program, which includes weekly counselling for family and the individual.
In the near future, we will offer online day programs during weekdays.
At Terradyne, we understand that many factors contribute to an addiction and we believe that treatment is not one-size-fits-all approach. Instead of using one standard form of treatment, Terradyne offers personalized treatment plans that individualize the recovery process. We believe in meeting the individual where they are at and utilizing a multitude of therapeutic approaches to best meet their needs. Our clinicians will help the individual establish attainable goals, monitor their progress, and make adjustments to the treatment plan when necessary. Our therapists employ narrative, cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance commitment therapy, motivational interviewing and other identified therapeutic techniques and interventions based on the needs of clients in order to help them succeed. We also employ mindfulness, recreational therapy and nutrition planning to help clients get on the right track.
Essentially, at Terradyne, we believe that when a person has a treatment plan in place that is tailored to their specific needs and is meaningful to them that it will result in better outcome for long-term success. Our end work with clients includes building robust safety plans to prevent relapse, helping our clients to live the lives they desire.
We implement aspects of a 12-step recovery plan in our personalized plans developed in collaboration with clients, which includes introducing clients to regular Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings.
Our detox program is facilitated by a robust healthcare team of physicians and nurses. Depending on the substance, detox can take anywhere from seven to 10 days. Clients are monitored 24/7 by nurses and doctors experienced in the field of addiction treatment and withdrawal management.
Clients are housed in their own private rooms within a secured, separate building from our residential population. Their individualized plans are overseen by our highly educated physicians and healthcare team. Clients will not experience any intense therapy during their detox but will have access to our credentialed counsellors for some light support and educational purposes. During detox, the client achieves an equilibrium physically to prepare them for some of the deeper work that will happen in the Intensive Therapeutic Program if this option is chosen.
At the moment, we are focused on offering residential programs, but we will be offering online day programs during week days in the near future.
At Terradyne Wellness Clinic, we understand that substance use disorder impacts more than just the individual and we believe that family members can play a vital role in their loved one’s recovery. Our Family Care Program provides a space for family members to be part of the recovery process and gives everyone the chance to have a voice in a safe, therapeutic environment. We offer substance use disorder education, family counselling sessions facilitated by experienced therapists, and the opportunity to learn about relapse risk factors and prevention tools. Over most other rehab centers, Terradyne aims to equip families so they can continue to support family members in their continued recovery journey. Our focus is on rebuilding damaged connections and fostering a sense of clarity and optimism moving forward. While our priority is healing the individual, we believe that involving and helping to heal the family is a key factor in long-term success.
The chances of a successful recovery (one year consistent clean time) triples for those that stay connected to recovery based activities and groups. Terradyne offers clients one-on-one on-site or virtual counselling weekly for the first six months after their Residential Program has ended. This can be extended at the discretion of the client.
We also offer Recovery Maintenance Day Programs and Proactive Relapse Prevention Services to individuals who have completed rehabilitation services from a recognized provider.
At the moment, we are not able to mentor and place practicum students, but we are planning to offer these opportunities in the future.
Our qualified therapists have Masters degrees in counselling; they are Certified Canadian Counsellors through the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), Certified Clinical Trauma Professionals (CCTP) through the International Association of Trauma Professionals (IATP), and they are also Registered Counselling Therapist Canadidates (RCT-C) through the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists (NSCCT).
Our recreation therapists hold a degree in recreation therapy as well as years of experience in the field.
